This series called Emergence explores what we can perceive when we stop seeing water in so-called "real time." Experimenting with my duration of exposure, I sometimes find a "sweet spot" in which there emerge details that we wouldn't experience otherwise. As I process these images, enhancing or diminishing light and dark tones, I bring to the fore the lines, forms, shapes, and rhythms that resonate with me. Much like my Impro Topo series, the images here nudge my imagination and trigger emotions.  Emergence allows me to experience my own sense of what's beautiful, to see for the sheer pleasure of seeing, and to marvel at how photography, too, opens "The Doors of Perception."
