I am very pleased to announce that I am a B&W Magazine 2012 Portfolio Contest Merit Award Winner. The B&W Magazine Special Issue #92 includes a two-page spread of several images from my Ephemeralities portfolio. B&W is a nationally distributed magazine for collectors of fine photography. There were 81 Merit Award winning portfolios out of 681 portfolios (7500 images in all) submitted by photographers from around the world. The B&W Special Issue (2012 Black and White Portfolio Contest Winners) is expected to be on newstands on or about May 29.

A few days ago I learned that one of my images has been selected for the juried international exhibition Abstract Expressions at PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont. The image you see here - Ephemerality #15 - is among 40 images selected for the gallery show from more that 1400 images submitted by artists from several nations including the U.S., Canada, Ireland, Israel, Poland and Russia.
I submitted my work for this show in large part because of the juror: Carl Chiarenza, Professor Emeritus of Art History and Artist-in-Residence at the University of Rochester. He has been called "one of the most interesting abstract photographers of his generation" by Brooks Jensen, editor of LensWork magazine. I am honored and thrilled to have been selected.
Ephemerality #15 is from a series I've been working on for the past few months. The exhibition runs at PhotoPlace Gallery May 15 through June 9.
